Jean ARTHUIS accountant, founder of a firm of statutory auditors. Elected to the Senate since 1983, he was general rapporteur of the budget from 1992 to 1995, president of the centrist group between 1998 and 2002, Chairman of the Finance Committee from 2002 to 2011, Mayor of Château-Gontier from 1971 to 2001 and Chairman of the Board General Mayenne since 1992. He chairs the Alliance Moderate and is vice president of UDI, in charge of the European project. He was Secretary of State to the Minister of Labour in March 1986 and from January 1987 to the Minister of Economy, Finance and Privatization, Consumer and Competition (until May 1988). He was appointed Minister of Economy and Finance from 1995 to 1997, where he prepares the transition to the single European currency. It is responsible in 2011 by François Fillon, Prime Minister, a mission on the future of the eurozone. He published his report in March 2012 under the title: Future of the Eurozone: political integration or chaos. Author in 1993 of a first report on globalization and offshoring of jobs and activities, he published in 2007 Globalization: the France against the employment and public finances in 2011 SOS: dare true reforms. He is also the author of a book entitled Europe, last chance for France (ed. Calmann-Lévy).
